Si5351 Library Mbed Port

20 February 2018 Jason Milldrum2 Comments

A quick note to let you know that courtesy of David Mills, G7UVW, the Etherkit Si5351 Arduino library has now been ported to the Mbed platform. He reports that it seems to be behaving the same as the Arduino library, so if you’re an Mbed user, definitely go check it out. I was giving some… Read More Si5351 Library Mbed Port

Si5351 Programming Flowchart

12 February 2018 Jason Milldrum1 Comment

I recently received this nice flowchart in email from Joe Marin, CO7RR which documents a method for programming the Si5351. It looks slightly different from the way I do it in the Si5351 Arduino library and I haven’t personally tried it, so I can’t vouch for its accuracy, but I wanted to pass it along in… Read More Si5351 Programming Flowchart

Arduino – Si5351 Powered Signal Generator

9 January 2018 Jason MilldrumLeave a comment

Arduino – Si5351 Powered Signal Generator Please enjoy this write-up of a nifty, compact signal generator project using the Etherkit Si5351A Breakout Board driven by a Teensy LC. What I really love about it is that it uses an 18650 LiPo cell with a small USB charge controller, so that it is very portable. Neat stuff!

Si5351A Breakout Board TCXO Upgrade

11 April 2016 Jason Milldrum5 Comments

I’m pleased to announce an upgrade to the Etherkit Si5351A Breakout Board with TCXO reference oscillator. In boards manufactured previous to today (and the ones kitted in the initial crowdfunded initiative), the TCXO used was a Fox FOX924B-25.000. It worked well and did the job it was supposed to, but has one flaw in certain situations. The… Read More Si5351A Breakout Board TCXO Upgrade

I’m pleased to announce that I’ve opened up the Etherkit Si5351A Breakout Board campaign for contributions! Please stop by our Indiegogo page to get much more information on what we are offering, and how you can help to support us even if you don’t plan on purchasing a kit. We did a soft launch yesterday… Read More The Si5351A Breakout Board Campaign is Here!

Si5351A with TCXO Update

11 January 2015 Jason Milldrum13 Comments

Just a few days ago, I finally received some of the TCXO parts that I’ve been planning on using with the Si5351A Breakout Board. I had no problem using one on the remaining prototype circuit board that I have, and at first glance it appeared quite stable and also very close to the nominal frequency… Read More Si5351A with TCXO Update

Si5351A Investigations Part 8

20 December 201420 December 2014 Jason Milldrum17 Comments

In looking through the analytics here on the blog, I noticed a search term that has been regularly coming up near the top: Si5351 crosstalk. Realizing that I haven’t yet presented data on this, it seemed like a good time to knock this one out, since it isn’t that difficult of a measurement to make.… Read More Si5351A Investigations Part 8

Si5351A Investigations Part 7

2 November 20142 November 2014 Jason Milldrum18 Comments

Here’s the post I know that a lot of you have been waiting for. Buzz around the Si5351 has been picking up at a pretty rapid clip over the last month or so, but a lot of homebrewers have been hesitant to use it in their designs because one critical parameter has not yet been… Read More Si5351A Investigations Part 7

Si5351A Update

28 October 201428 October 2014 Jason Milldrum9 Comments

I don’t have a ton of new updates for you from the NT7S bench, but I wanted to give you a heads up on an error on the Si5351A Breakout Board Rev B and let you know about some exciting stuff brewing on the Si5351 scene. When I created Rev B of the Si5351A Breakout… Read More Si5351A Update

Si5351A Breakout Board Update

15 August 201415 August 2014 Jason Milldrum14 Comments

I’ve had a good response to the Si5351A Breakout Board when it was posted on Hackaday last month. There have even been a few folks who went through the trouble of ordering PCBs from OSHPark so that they could build their own copies of the board for experimentation. One of them, Tom AK2B, even constructed… Read More Si5351A Breakout Board Update
